The statistics involving teen drivers are staggering…
- Within the first 12 months of a teen obtaining their driver’s license, 25% – 30% will be involved in a traffic crash
- Traffic crashes are the leading cause of injuries and deaths to teenagers in the United States
- Florida leads the Nation in the highest rate of fatal crashes
Some of the main causes are related to: inexperienced drivers, drug use, alcohol consumption, speeding, texting while driving and failure to utilize safety belts.
In order to decrease injuries and deaths to our teens, we (parents, school officials, etc.) must be diligent in teaching our teen drivers to obey simple rules that will not only keep them safe, but others on the road, too.
