A 19 year-old, Delray Beach woman, Amy Merrill, was charged with DUI involving serious bodily injury. Merrill initially told investigators that she lost control of her Ford Explorer after going over a speed bump, striking parked cars. She later admitted to “huffing” a can of computer keyboard dust spray. Huffing is a term used to describe the act of inhaling vapors from aerosol spray cans, in an attempt to get high.
The two men injured, were loading objects into a pick-up truck. One was pinned underneath the pick-up truck and the other suffered injuries to his face. Merrill ultimately consented to a blood test and was charged with DUI.
Remember, being charged with DUI is not only the result of drinking alcohol and driving, but being under the influence of any drug or substance that causes you to become impaired.
